We recognize that the historic inequality between the genders extends into this modern marvel. The mere EXISTENCE of information about women and women’s work online is critical to delivering gender fair results. In 2019, when one’s work, voice, and story isn’t digitized, it is forgotten, silenced, and made invisible. At The Feminist Institute, we refuse to accept this result. It is time to change.

The Maven Space is the host site for a Feminist Institute historical archival project. They’ll be taking a deep dive into 40 year old records, known at the time as Supersisters Cards, a trading card initiative spotlighting women trailblazers.

“A.I.R.: The First 25 Years” launches September 23 on Google Arts and Culture courtesy of the Feminist Institute, which commissioned the four-chapter digital exhibition and archive as part of its mission to make women’s history more accessible. “We’re funding feminist research that’s archivally based to bring materials about feminist artists and feminist art movements into the public record,” the Feminist Institute’s Dena Muller, who was A.I.R.’s director from 1998 to 2006, told Artnet News.
